It takes 6 hours by jeep/bus from kathmandu to Salleri and start trekking to Namche Bazaar via Nuntala pass. Tenboce, Dingboche, Lobuche, Gorakhshep and EBC is the usual trail. Everest trekking can be made more exciting and rewardin by extending it to kalapathar, Dzonla pass, Gokyo lake and Renjo la pass. It is now popularly known as Everest three passes trek.

Note: Before naming it Mount Everest in 1865 AD,  this highest mountain in the world is called chomolungma, meaning godess mother of the world. In 1956 AD, the mountain got named in Nepali language by Sagarmatha, meaning the godess of the sky.
