Makalu Base Camp Trekking
Makalu base camp trek takes you to the world's fifth highest mountain situated in the Makalu-Barun National Park and Conservation Area, a place of outstanding natural beauty with diverse flora and fauna.
This trekking features rural landscapes, high mountain country, traversing glaciers, a non-technical ice-fall to negotiate, a high (5700 metres) pass (the Teshi Lapcha) to cross, and a wonderful sense of isolation, and optionally five days of playing at high altitude, including an ascent of Yalung Ri or Ramdun.
It’s a great trip for walkers who are confident with ice-axe and crampons, and for aspiring mountaineers. It has to be done as a camping trek: between Na and Thame cause there are no lodges.
